The essence of Restorative yoga is recovery and reconstruction. The practice is based on stillness, quiet and rest. During a Restorative class you are invited to pause, relax and find a state of calm. Through the help of different yoga postures, the possibility for the body and nervous system to restore and heal is created. In the restorative poses, you rest with the help of different props like bolsters, blocks and blankets.
“Restorative yoga is the use of props to support the body in positions of comfort and ease to facilitate relaxation and health.”
– Judith Hanson Lasater, pioneer within Restorative yoga in the west. Judith developed the method based on her studies with BKS Iyengar.
