Pranayama level 2
The course is designed for people who would like to develop their understanding of pranayama, the traditional breath practice and how the breath is connected to our life force.

Om kursen
This immersion of Pranayama and Meditation education is part of our Advanced Training Program and is building on the first module of Pranayama and Meditation (level 1). The Course is meant to develop pranayama practitioners that have already established themselves in the method. The aim is to help each individual move forward in their understanding of the art of breathing, while developing the confidence to help others.
The practice becomes more personal and designed specifically to each yogi with great opportunities to work closely with our teachers. We will go into details around the spiritual techniques of pranayama, like the mighty Bhastrika, and will develop the retention (holding) of the breath. As well as pranayama this course will draw heavily on the Buddhist traditions of meditation, mindfulness and loving kindness practices. Students will learn how to combine all these different and profound elements of seated practice in a way that works best for them. Movement and asana will also be included.
Specific topics that will be addressed during the 3 days:
-Deeper understanding of breathing anatomy and how it relates to pranayama
-Textual references on pranayama
-History of hathayoga with a special focus on pranayama and meditation
-Contemplation/Loving kindness practices
-Meditation
-Introduction to Vipassana
-Psychology of meditation
-Teaching pranayama
-How and when to move on in pranayama
-Subtle/energetic anatomy
-Asana done as spiritual practice
For TT students that are working towards their 500 hours certificate the Pranayama level 2 can be part of the optional 100 hours that each student is able to choose by themselves.

TEACHERS
Guy Powiecki
Guy’s journey with yoga began in an academic setting, studying Yoga and Buddhism as part of his university theology degree. But it wasn’t until nearly a decade later that the practice truly claimed his life. What started as a physical healing journey soon transformed into a profound exploration of the mind, body, and the very nature of existence.
With over ten years of teaching experience, Guy brings a rare blend of intellectual depth, practical expertise, and embodied wisdom to every class. His extensive studies span Ashtanga, Hatha, alignment-based practice, pranayama, philosophy, Yin, and meditation. He has spent several years immersed in traditional practice in Asia, living and studying in yoga institutions and monasteries. His principal teachers include Richard Freeman, Sri O.P. Tiwari, and Bhante Bodhidhamma.
Guy’s teaching is both challenging and deeply mindful. Grounded in the psychological and philosophical roots of the yoga tradition, his classes are designed to support real transformation – psychologically, energetically, and physically. He weaves together postures, breathwork, and meditation into an integrated experience that meets students where they are and helps them grow.
A core teacher on Yogayama’s 500-hour programs, Guy is also one of Europe’s most experienced pranayama instructors. Certified as a personal trainer, he brings a nuanced understanding of the body’s mechanics to his work; whether on the mat or in daily life.
Outside the studio, you might find Guy on a Buddhist meditation retreat (when family life allows), diving deep in freediving adventures, or sharing his surprisingly vast knowledge of sharks.
PLEASE NOTE! This course is a mandatory course for yogis that are aiming for the Yogayama 500 hour certification according to Yoga Alliance.
